Local governments manage a diverse range of services. These governmental entities may be responsible for up to 700 different services, including roads, parks, planning, public safety, waste, housing, education and healthcare. With this centralised management comes the challenge of reconciling the needs of various groups with different political priorities and partnership arrangements, and changing economic and social context.
Citizens expect their local government to sort out complexity and make services intuitive and convenient. This creates a challenge for the IT professionals who deploy the underpinning technology.
