Auditing ethics in the public sector
Ethics, integrity and transparency of state officials’ and civil servants’ actions have become a growing focus of public attention. Numerous scandals related to corruption, illegality or lack of professionalism justify the prominent role of these issues in many countries. At the same time, the reform and modernisation of state administration and public management and the increasing democratisation and openness of societies allow and claim for the development and strengthening of ethics’ structures and management in the civil service.
Thus, ethics turns out to be a required part of the public governance and performance and, in such circumstances, auditing ethics is becoming important.
