NAVIGATE ENERGY TRANSITION
KSA’s strategy is pragmatic and dualistic—leveraging its oil wealth to fund a gradual, innovation-driven clean energy transition, while aligning with Vision 2030 and regional leadership goals. Unlike many Western economies focused on rapid decarbonization, KSA balances economic resilience with sustainability, making it a distinctive model in the global transition landscape.
In the Saudi context, dualism refers to the simultaneous pursuit of two parallel energy and economic tracks:
- Sustaining the traditional hydrocarbon economy (to maintain fiscal strength, global oil leadership, and domestic stability)
- Accelerating clean energy transformation (to align with global net-zero goals and future-proof the economy)
This principle underpins KSA’s “And, not Or” approach: Oil economy + Clean economy = Strategic coexistence
Course objectives
- Build a comprehensive understanding of the energy transition, including renewable energy integration into the energy mix, policy and regulation, sustainability practices, and energy security, enabling leaders to confidently contribute to key initiatives (e.g. renewable projects).
- Strengthen critical skills required to contribute to a complex and evolving energy landscape through simulated and immersive learning experiences.
- Review energy strategies and policies and develop actionable insights to bridge the gap between national vision and on-the-ground implementation.
- Engage with real-world energy sector challenges and scenarios ensuring new skills result in measurable improvements in participants’ contribution to energy related programs and initiatives.
- Align efforts with the participating entities’ strategic objectives to achieve intended outcomes.
- Take accountability, identify key success metrics and follow-up to ensure identified measures of success are tracked and achieved.
