Course Objectives – (SAQA ID 119343)

The objective of this program is to equip municipal officials and financial managers with the knowledge and practical skills required to apply project management principles within a municipal environment. The course aims to strengthen the ability of participants to plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate municipal projects in a manner that supports strategic objectives and sustainable service delivery.

Municipalities frequently implement projects related to infrastructure development, service delivery improvements, community programs, and organisational transformation. Effective project management ensures that these initiatives are delivered within approved budgets, timeframes, and quality standards while minimising risks and ensuring accountability.

Through this program, participants will develop an understanding of the project management lifecycle, including project initiation, planning, execution, monitoring, and closure. The course also strengthens the ability of participants to align project management practices with municipal strategic planning processes, financial management frameworks, and governance requirements.
