  3. Identify weaknesses in internal control systems that may expose municipalities to financial loss, fraud, or mismanagement.
  4. Interpret audit findings and recommendations to support improved financial management and governance practices.
  5. Strengthen collaboration with internal audit functions, audit committees, and external auditors to improve oversight and accountability.
  6. Support risk-based auditing approaches that focus audit efforts on areas that pose the greatest risk to municipal performance and service delivery.
  7. Use audit insights to influence corrective actions and improve municipal financial management practices.
